Savage scores a "3-peet"

Tim Savage scored his third consecutive victory in the AutoTrader Ford Focus. The main event was shortened to 15 laps due to time restraints. Bob Brewer took an early lead moving from a 5th starting position to the lead on the opening lap. Brewer had a shock absorber mount break on lap 5 and surrendered the lead to Savage on lap 7. Caitlin Shaw of Albuquerque, NM passed Brewer for 2nd on lap 10. Billy Cox was able to pass on the final lap for 3rd. Rookie James Powell rounded out the Top 5.

Heat race 1 was won by Savage with a 2 second win over Miran and Cox. Jeff Kelley held off a determined Brewer for a .16 second win in Heat 2. Cox was once again the AutoTrader fast qualifier of the night with a lap of 15.568, a new track record for the Ford Focus Midgets .

A crash on the backstretch eliminated the cars of Jeff Kelley, Trevor Miran and J.R. Williams. Miran and Kelley suffered significant frame and structural damage to their Beast Pavement chassis. Williams, a  72 year old veteran driver from Carson City, NV had damage to his front axle and right front shock. Williams,  making his first racing start in Utah later said "I had a great time. This is  now one of my favorite pavement tracks. The people here are so friendly and Rocky Mountain Raceways is a GREAT facility. I can't wait to get back. You'll definitely see me working more trips here into my schedule".
