July 5th, 2008 Race Results - Rocky Mountain Raceways

Kipp Posey of Springville, Utah completed the first Ford Focus Midget sweep at Rocky Mountain Raceways in over a year this Saturday night. The Utah series began having a pill draw to determine how lineups for the Main event are determined. Posey who won his third AutoTrader Fast Qualifier Award, was forced to start 11th in a 12 car field. Determined to increase his series point lead, Posey smoothly worked through traffic and took the lead from James Powell on lap 14. The race was slowed only once when a caution came put on lap 19 for Billy Cox who spun and came to a stop in turn 4. Posey was followed to the strip by James Powell, Jim Waters, Tim Savage and Bob Brewer.

Posey won the AutoTrader fast time award with a lap of 15.268 nearly breaking his track record. Posey and Waters won heat races.

The Utah Ford Focus now takes a 3 week break and will return on July 26 joining the USAC Western States Sprint Cars which will run a 100 lap Main event at RMR.
